Split and Upgrade Software Platforms at OSU
The Ohio State University (OSU) was running their Human Resources (HR) and Student Information Systems (SIS) applications from a single database and platform. In order to maintain vendor support for the core applications and technology platform, OSU needed to upgrade both the HR and SIS software and split the applications into separate databases, while also upgrading the technical infrastructure to a more robust platform.
Navigator partnered with OSU to reimplement, upgrade, and separate their HR and SIS applications. The project also involved implementing integration utilities to keep the separate PeopleSoft HR and SIS systems in sync, and PeopleSoft Interaction Hub (Portal) to facilitate a seamless user experience. All upgraded systems were deployed on a new platform with upgraded hardware. Navigator’s technical team led infrastructure testing, performance testing, and the Move to Production (MTP) planning and deployment effort, which was extremely complex and included a roughly 6 calendar day cutover process.
The project team successfully completed this very technically complex project. The cutover process went very smoothly in part due to the rigid methodology followed in performing multiple test moves and a comprehensive dress rehearsal prior to the actual cutover. System performance exceeded expectations so well that client was able to disband its post-go-live Performance SWAT team much earlier than planned.
